Enjoy an unforgettable morning visiting a local food market and cooking delicious paella, gazpacho and sangría, under the careful instruction of our dedicated, talented local chef.

Where?

This cooking activity is currently exclusive to Madrid, taking place in a cookery school in a central location.

What Can We Expect?

As you may know, Paella is a rice dish that celebrates the joy of communal dining and is Spain's proudest culinary achievement... and there are as many variations of paella as there are cooks (or villages) in Spain.

Paella can help create a party, a social occasion and/or a team-building debate (often over the creation of the paella itself!) - making this one of the most sociable, communal and enjoyable of all culinary activities. There is emphasis on this activity being a very sociable occasion - something which the Spanish are also masters at!

Our class starts with a visit to the Antón Martín market (200m from the school) to buy ingredients. We’ll buy vegetables, seafood and perhaps, ham, olives, cheese, pastry… with this traditional way of shopping, supply ideas are endless.

Back in the school, you will be taught how to prepare sangría and your starter: gazpacho - a refreshing tomato-based chilled soup. Both offer wonderful tastes of Spain, both are well worth mastering.

Next, the preparation of paella; possibly the most famous of all Spanish dishes, based on rice, seafood and chicken. As well as the preparation, our chef will tell the story of paella, including its origins, its place in Spanish culture, as well as handy tips that will enable you make a paella to be proud of.

Can You Supply Food (And Drink) Options?

After enjoying a creative morning of cooking, your group will enjoy their creations as lunch, and share their experiences with their fellow cooks. Undoubtedly, the best way to complete a fun, enjoyable morning!
